Plans for Our Staircase
A really rough mockup of what I want to do with our entryway and staircase.

This is a really rough mock up of the plan for our staircase- which I am so excited about! I love when things really start to come together. A few months ago, I finally decided on a carpet for our stairs and we put the deposit down. We ended up ordering Peter Island Stripe in the color Ash. After many samples and months of deciding what I want- this is what we went with and I think it’s going to look so good. I wanted something with a fun pattern but still classic. And this carpet is exactly what I was looking for. It’s a little more interesting but is still very classic and not something I will get sick of easily. I like that it’s neutral so I can play around with some colorful artwork.
A few weeks ago I discovered this brand who makes lamps called Pooky Lighting and they have become my new obsession. I actually ended up ordering this lampshade for the lamp in our entryway. But I have no idea what I am doing haha and ended up ordering the wrong type of shade. I honestly had no idea there were different types, so I had to return it and I plan on ordering it in the clip on version. I have this thing lately with fun lampshades. It’s a great way to bring a little pattern and interest into your room.
While I was browsing Pooky Lighting I discovered these sconces that are cordless. Meaning they don’t need to be hardwired by an electrician. They run off a rechargeable battery and have a remote. This is just genius! So that means you don’t need to tear up your walls to install them either. It got me so excited because I think adding two of them to my staircase flanking my windows will look gorgeous and really tie it all together. They also have a ton of different shades you can choose from. The front runner for me is this gold dotty shade that looks so cute. I am going to wait until the carpet gets installed to make my final decision and then I plan to order!
I’ve also been trying to come up with some artwork I want to add. I think the most logical thing is to add family photos but I just don’t know if that’s me! I’m not really sure how I feel about pictures of myself hanging on my walls, but I think I am the minority here. I have a lot of picture frames of us all around our house and I love seeing those, so maybe I will change my mind. I also think I want some color in this space so a pretty piece of artwork might be the direction I head.
We also haven’t added blinds yet to these windows but we will do it eventually. The ones in our back play room turned out amazing, so I can’t wait to add them to the rest of our windows downstairs. This will probably take some time because even just the two windows in our back room was $$$. But all good things are worth the wait!
I’m really excited for this space to come together. First and foremost, I can’t wait until the carpet gets installed. It is really going to warm up the space!
More to come because the carpet is actually getting installed…today! I got the call late yesterday that they had a cancellation and I jumped on it. Head to my stories on Instagram to see how it turned out :)
